The Causey, a place for people
Concept Visuals
Edinburgh South's uninspiring street scene is about to get a much-needed facelift thanks to the Causey Development Trust. I was fortunate enough to collaborate with the Trust, thanks to Robert Motyka, the Causey resident and my former colleague at Wee Dog Media, who invited me to contribute to this exciting project. As a visual designer, my mission was to create concept visuals that truly capture the essence of a street for people.
Working closely with the Trust, their partners, and Robert, I turned the real-life photographs of the West Crosscauseway into vibrant artistic interpretations that reflect the street's unique charm and features. My goal was to showcase the transformation of the Causey into a democratic, safe, and inclusive public space that welcomes people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Through my visuals, I aimed to inspire others to witness its full potential by highlighting its one-of-a-kind setting, history and transformative power of the local community.
The proposed improvements for the Causey include wider pavements, new pedestrian surfaces, more seating areas, an abundance of greenery, two-way cycling paths, new parking/loading bays, and a lower volume of vehicles. With these changes, the Causey will soon evolve into a vibrant hub of activity, one that locals and visitors will fall in love with and keep coming back to.
Being a part of such a remarkable project was an honour, and I can't wait to see it come to fruition, fostering lasting memories for visitors to the Causey.
