The Blankfaces is the first UK fashion label that is disrupting the status quo by using fashion and design to shift social perceptions of homelessness. By providing a platform for homeless individuals to tell their stories through fashion, the brand is raising awareness while also donating all profits to grassroots homeless charities in Glasgow.

The Blankfaces' 20/21 campaign was a true celebration of collaboration, as third-year students from Heriot-Watt University were inspired by the stories of homeless individuals to design a collection that spoke to their experiences.

To create impactful visual content for this campaign, we drew inspiration from the controversial "homeless chic" trend, but with a unique approach. We styled the models with layers of clothing and accessories, each carefully chosen to convey a specific message, challenging society's tendency to overlook the harsh realities of homelessness and displacement. Through this photo shoot, we aimed to bring visibility to those who are often marginalized and underrepresented in our society, casting them in a new light by placing them in the literal spotlight in the centre on cardboard pedestals. With neutral yet powerful expressions, the models stared proudly into the camera, communicating a bold statement that demanded attention and sparked conversations about the urgent need for social change.

This project was a creative way to give a voice to those experiencing homelessness, highlighting their humanity and worth. Being a part of this movement has been a source of immense pride for me, and I truly believe that The Blankfaces is leading the way towards a more compassionate and empathetic society.
